Update May 22

I’ve started to post weekly updates on my Cooke site, so I thought it would make sense to do them here as well. 🙂

Five star review for One Knight's Bride, book four of the Rogues & Angels series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix

As you know, One Knight’s Bride is now out in the world. The print edition is available as well, both at the portals and in my online store. There are a lot of wonderful reviews for this book already which is exciting.

I’ve ordered the next two covers in the Rogues & Angels series from the designer – I’m not sure whether Luc or Thierry will end up being next, twins being as they are, so I want to have both covers ready to go. As with Amaury’s book, I’ll put up the pre-order when the book goes to editing so it’s pretty much ready to go.

We’re also repackaging the books set in the Ravensmuir world right now. The Rogues of Ravensmuir are done. These new editions are available in trade paperback or jacketed hardcover – there’s a new illustration of each couple by Dar Albert, which goes on the case laminate of the hard cover or on the inside of the duplexed trade paperback cover. As always, Dar is doing a gorgeous job – you can see the illustrations for the first three books in this blog post.

new Ravensmuir editions coming summer 2026

I was going to take this launch to Kickstarter, but instead it will be in my online store first, then at retailers. You can order the new print editions of the Rogues of Ravensmuir in my online store right here for delivery in July or look for them at retail portals next February. The ebooks will get the new covers at retailers in February, as well, or you can order them for earlier delivery in my online store.

This week, we started working on the illustrations for the Jewels of Kinfairlie series. Here’s the first pass of the outside covers, though they may change slightly before we’re done:

2026 new covers for the Jewels of Kinfairlie series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix

Ah, there already have been changes! The pendant shown here on The Snow White Bride has moved to the cover for The Beauty Bride, because Madeline has that necklace, the Virgin’s Tear, which has a clear stone. There are always tweaks and changes before we finish up. As with the Rogues of Ravensmuir, I’ll make the new editions available early in my online store – The Ballad of Rosamunde will be included in the print edition of The Snow White Bride, so its cover here is just for the ebook.

I’ve also signed a new deal this week for The Christmas Conquest to be translated into German, with the plan of continuing through the rest of the series with the same translator. I’ll be pleased to see that series available in German as I think it will do well in that market.

That’s this week’s news!

A Bit About Translations

As you probably know, a number of my books are available in translated editions. Some of these translations were done through a website called Babelcube, which has a five-year license on the translation. Although it’s hard for me to believe the time has passed so quickly, they are starting to reach the end of their contract term. That means the translations are reverting to me – much the way the rights to an English book revert after some period of time – and that I’m republishing them in new editions.

This gives me more control over the books and their metadata – like series information – and also more control over pricing. At Babelcube, for example, I can only set the price in USD, then it’s converted for other territories. This means that the prices aren’t pretty. A book priced at 99cents USD might be 1.09 in euros, and since the primary market for these translations is outside the US, that’s not ideal. It’s also not possible to make a book free through Babelcube, which makes it harder to promote the books. First-in-series-free is a really good promotional technique.

Die schon Braut, The Beauty Bride book one of the Jewels of Kinfairlie series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix in its German edition

As these books come back to me and are republished, I’ll be offering some free series starters. For example, The Jewels of Kinfairlie series is available in German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.

Right now, the German edition of The Beauty Bride is a free read. That book came back to me in the fall and now I publish the entire series myself. (Click through on the cover for more details on the book and links to the retail portals.)

As of January 1, I’ve made the Spanish edition of the Beauty Bride free at the portals. I’ve asked Amazon to match the free price and will let you know when they do.

I’ve republished the Italian editions of both The Rose Red Bride and The Snow Write Bride, but won’t have the rest of the series back until the spring. Then I’ll make The Beauty Bride in Italian a free read, too.

I’ve also republished The Beauty Bride in Portuguese recently. The rest of the series in Portuguese will come back to me later this year, and I’ll republish them, then make The Beauty Bride in Portuguese a free read.

One thing that seems to be happening at AMZ, which is new, is that the new edition isn’t linking with the older edition, which means the reviews are being lost. If you reviewed any of these books, it would be lovely if you could post your review again on the new edition. 🙂

The Beauty Bride in German is a Fr33 read

The German edition of The Beauty Bride is called Die schöne Braut and it’s a free series starter through the end of June. It’s book #1 of the Jewels of Kinfairlie series of medieval Scottish romances, and the series is complete in German. The books are also available in trade paperback editions.

Die schon Braut, The Beauty Bride book one of the Jewels of Kinfairlie series of medieval romances by Claire Delacroix in its German edition

Two German Paperbacks

Recently, I created a trade paperback edition of Der Wolf und die Hexe, which is the German translation of The Wolf & the Witch. I was curious about options and possibilities.

As a result, there are two versions of the trade paperback edition of Der Wolf und die Hexe. The Amazon-exclusive version has Maximilian on the cover (shown at right). The version available everywhere else has the sword on the cover and Maximilian inside (shown at left).

Two versions of Der Wolf und die Hexe in print: Amazon-exclusive edition on the right, edition for all other portals on the left.

See? The left one is a duplexed cover, with Maximilian inside.

Two versions of Der Wolf und die Hexe in print: Amazon-exclusive edition on the right, edition for all other portals on the left.

I kind of like this option of combining the discrete cover with the mancandy on the print edition. What do you think? Should I do this for English titles in future?

You may be able to order either version at Amazon – look under Other Formats & Editions to find the link for the burgundy one. The Amazon links below will take you to the Amazon-exclusive edition, with Maximilian on the front.
