Set of Four Notebooks Available in my Blood Brothers Kickstarter Campaign

Once again, I’ve added new rewards to my campaign. Since people liked the single notebook, I’ve added a set of four, one with each cover illustration. Here’s my digital mark-up of how they’ll look.

4 spiral notebooks with Blood Brothers cover illustrations

These notebooks are 5.5″ by 8.5″ with 80 blank (lined) pages inside. Better yet, they’re spiral bound so you can open them flat for writing. When you back the tier with the four notebooks, you’ll also get a set of four new bookmarks.

Four Bookmarks for the Blood Brothers Kickstarter campaign

And as a special bonus, if you order the set of four bookmarks before Friday February 23 at midnight, I’ll include a book charm. I’ve made book charms in the past with my book covers, and I’ll make some with the new Blood Brothers covers. Here are the ones I’ve made before:

Bookcharms made by Deborah Cooke

I’ll make some this weekend with the new Blood Brothers covers. They’ll be like the new duplexed trade paperbacks, with the illustration on the inside front flap. So, order a set of notebooks by Friday and you’ll get one of the new bookcharms, too, as well as the new bookmarks.

Remember our other stretch goal now, to add NINE family trees. First, there’s the family tree of Jean le Beau and his four sons. That will go in the front of each special edition. Then there are two additional family trees for each book, one for the hero and one for the heroine.

So, when we unlock this goal, the special editions of The Wolf & the Witch, for example, will have Jean le Beau’s family tree at the front, as well as Maximilian’s family tree and Alys’ family tree at the back of the book. The family trees will also be available as digital downloads for all backers. This stretch goal will unlock when the campaign reaches $2900CA in total funding.

New Notebooks in my Blood Brothers Kickstarter Campaign

I added a new tier to my campaign and wanted to share it with you. We have notebooks!

I was thinking of other ways to enjoy Dar Albert’s fabulous new Blood Brothers illustrations, and I thought of blank notebooks. I love blank notebooks! These notebooks are 5.5″ by 8.5″ with 80 blank (lined) pages inside. (That’s a digital mockup of the cover above.) Better yet, they’re spiral bound so you can open them flat for writing.

Right now, we have a spiral notebook with the illustration for The Hunter & the Heiress on it. If you back the reward with one notebook, right now, this is it. BUT we have a new stretch goal – once there are seven backers of this tier, I’ll add notebooks with all four covers. Those who back one notebook will get a choice, but there will be a new tier with all four.

Remember our other stretch goal now, to add NINE family trees. First, there’s the family tree of Jean le Beau and his four sons. That will go in the front of each special edition. Then there are two additional family trees for each book, one for the hero and one for the heroine.

New Stretch Goal in my Blood Brothers Kickstarter Campaign

I’m excited today because we unlocked the second stretch goal in my Kickstarter campaign. The Blood Brothers map, hand-drawn by Ellen Tribble, will be added to the new editions – the ebook special editions, as well as the new trade paperbacks and new hardcovers.

I love maps, so I’m pretty excited about this addition to the books – it’s the first time I’ve commissioned a map for one of my series!

Remember that there’s also a stretch reward that ends at midnight tonight!

More Rewards at my Blood Brothers Kickstarter Campaign

The really fun thing about a Kickstarter campaign is that it’s so fluid. You can add tiers as it’s running, which I like a lot. Somehow I never manage to think of everything in advance, and when people ask questions, the proverbial lightbulb goes on.

In this campaign, I was originally thinking of the print editions, both hardcover and trade paperback. But then on Tuesday, someone asked me about the ebooks and I realized they could be special editions, too. So, there are special edition ebooks available in the campaign now, both as a reward tier and as an add-on. They’ll have all the goodies in them that we add to the new print books.

Four special edition Blood Brothers ebooks

I’ve added a reward tier for an annotated copy of The Wolf & the Witch. This will be the hardcover edition with notes written in it by hand by me. There are only three of these, so if this interests you, jump in!

Finally, I’ve also added a stretch reward for this week. Every backer who backs the campaign for $25CA or more by midnight Friday night, will get the ebook of Beguiled, my collection of six short stories and novellas. Six tales of fantasy, romance and forbidden love – your bonus for backing the campaign this week.

We’re making progress on unlocking the stretch goal of the map, which will be included in those new editions.

Remember that these new editions aren’t going to be available at retailers. You’ll be able to buy them only from me, in a Kickstarter campaign or in my online store. The goodies we add during the campaign will only be available through the Kickstarter campaign, as well.

The campaign runs through March 3.

Blood Brothers Kickstarter Campaign is Off & Running!

Wow! My Kickstarter for the new print editions of my Blood Brothers series of medieval Scottish romances launched yesterday, funded and we reached the first stretch goal. It’s so exciting. This campaign is about new print editions of the four Blood Brothers books, each featuring a new illustration. Here are the dust jackets on the new hardcover books:

The paperbacks look similar on the outside.

Then there are the new illustrations: they go on the case laminate of the hardcovers and are printed on the inside of the trade paperbacks. Here’s a mock-up of how that will look for The Dragon & the Damsel:

Now that we’re funded, the stretch goals are adding new features to the books. We’ve already added a set of bookmarks:

Four Bookmarks for the Blood Brothers Kickstarter campaign

These bookmarks are big (3.5″ by 8.5″) and there are four of them in total, one featuring each new illustration. The reverse side of all four is the same, the series with the current covers. Each backer of a tier with signed print books will get a set of these bookmarks.

Our current stretch goal is the addition of THE MAP.

The map makes me so happy! Drawn by Ellen Tribble, it will go into the new print editions when we reach the current stretch goal. It will also be available as a digital download to all backers, AND backers of signed book tiers will get one printed on parchment (it’ll be about 8″ by 9″).

These editions aren’t going to be available at retailers. You’ll be able to buy them only from me, in a Kickstarter campaign or in my online store. The goodies we add during the campaign will only be available through the Kickstarter campaign, as well.

And there’s an Early Bird bonus, a special tier with all four signed hardcover editions, each with a vellum overlay, available for 48 hours only. (You can also buy the overlays as an add-on.)

The campaign runs through March 3, a little longer than originally planned.

There are also ebook and audiobook tiers available.
